Ranjit Maharaj was a master of Advaita, the teaching of non-duality, in the lineage of Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj — the same master who taught Nisargadatta Maharaj. For decades he pointed students, quietly and without ceremony, toward a single recognition: that the world and the sense of “I” are an appearance, and one’s true nature is the formless Reality that was never born and never touched.
“You are the Final Truth. Understand this, and be free.”
His was the direct path of Knowledge — not belief, not ritual, but seeing clearly what is real and what is only passing. What appears is a play of the mind; behind it stands the one, unchanging ground.
Why place him among the teachers of a medicine? Because the classical medicine rests on the same insight. To treat the root rather than chase the branches, to read the one pattern beneath the many symptoms, to return always to the source — this is the physician’s version of the same seeing. The needle, the herb, and the pulse are met most truly by a still and undivided mind.
Andrew Fraser stands in this teaching lineage. The texts of the tradition — the recorded talks and the classic works of Self-knowledge — are being transcribed and will be added here, and drawn into the members’ library, so the words themselves can be studied directly.
